IceColo is M247 Ltd's dedicated datacentre in Trafford Park, Manchester. IceColo strives to provide a quality of technical infrastructure and customer service unmatched in the industry. A crucial part is played by the design of the system in the Manchester facility, which has resulted in a highly reliable power feed for all other critical datacentre services - such as servers, network routing, security and climate control. Over 13km of electrical cable was required in the installation of the system.

Environmental Footprint

An adiabatic free cooling system together with a sealed 'cold aisle' prevents valuable cold air from mixing with hot exhaust air, resulting in a highly efficient and eco-friendly server cooling environment. Implementing this system has significantly reduced our energy consumption resulting in a world leading PUE of 1.18 which is a far better approach to addressing our environmental footprint than by planting trees which other providers seem to do - we simply use less energy than our competitors!

Network Presence

The availability of highly reliable and high capacity network services is essential in order to make the most of any premium colocation environment and IceColo offers the best. In conjunction with our network division, GlobalAXS Communications, which has a very extensive network presence within the datacentre and provides a full range of connectivity services.

Uninterruptible Power

Power is provided by our dedicated onsite 1Mva substation and backed up through our N+1 Riello UPS and multiple synchronised 550Kva SDMO generators with sufficient fuel on site for 7 days continuous running.

Fire Protection

Finally the IceColo offering is protected from fire by installation of a state-of-the-art VESDA smoke detection system and FM200 gas suppression and from intruders by a long list of security precautions including secure gated access. High quality onsite restroom facilities enable customers and their staff to work at any time of the day or night. As a result IceColo customers know that their servers are available and protected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and that is what IceColo is all about.
