M247 Supplies Filtered Broadband to the Inclusion Trust
M247 was recently asked to provide filtered broadband to the Inclusion Trust http://www.inclusiontrust.org which is both a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee with aims to advance education amongst people that are excluded or disengaged from traditional educational systems.
Paul Sillars, director of M247, who also heads our data security team, advised the Trust in connection with its flagship project - Notschool.net which is an international 'Online Learning Community' offering an alternative to traditional education for young people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to engage with school or other complementary provisions such as home tutoring or specialist units.
As part of what the Trust offers young individuals involved in Notschool.net , internet access is a crucial element if these youngsters are going to be able to use the online learning facilities. Obviously this has to be a filtered provision in order to ensure that the youngsters don’t start abusing the service by browsing inappropriate websites. The filtered broadband system provided by M247 differs from that offered by many other providers insofar as its actually achieved upstream of the PC. This ensures that the user can’t hack the password or by-pass the controls as they often can with the software systems installed directly on workstations.
Notschool.net is now considered to be full time alternative education provision, facilitating the inclusion of the most marginalised young people.
